Cyromazine is an insect growth regulator belonging to the triazine derivatives, it interferes with the chitin metabolish of insect, treated larvae will not molt to the next stage and thus the cycle of the fly will be interrupted, it also shows a high specificity for fly larvae. First instar larvae are more susceptible to cyromazine than 2nd or 3rd instars.
